Breathalyzer Scale

The Breathalyzer Scale is the Standard Measuring Device used to test and record BAC level of a person. When the person is asked to give a breath sample, they are required to blow on the mouthpiece of the device. Within seconds, the breathalyzer provides the BAC result in percentage. A couple of years ago, breathalyzer was the brand name which was used to test a person’s blood alcohol content level. However, over time, it started being used as the device name which is used to test the alcohol level in individuals. Today, breathalyzer scale is being used by the police in the observance of DUI laws. Breathalyzer Scale is also used by establishments including schools and institutions for security purposes.

How Accurate is the Breathalyzer Scale?

The breathalyzer device is the most accurate way to measure Blood Alcohol Concentration, also referred to as the alcohol level of an individual. However, if a breathalyzer machine is not available to test the BAC level of the offender, then a Blood Alcohol Chart can be used for estimation. The chart gives an estimate on the number of drinks needed to reach a certain level of intoxication based on the persons weight. There is no actual formula on how many drinks will be required to reach a certain BAC, because the level of intoxication depends on a number of factors, like the persons weight, their metabolism rate, whether they had a drink on an empty stomach or after a meal and so on. Similarly, the intoxication level will be different for females and males, and different charts are available for men and women. Therefore, the blood alcohol level chart should only be used for estimates as it does not account for all the factors that can affect a person’s BAC level. Whenever in doubt, it is safe to let a sober person drive.

Which ones actually work?

If you want to find out your BAC for sure, the best way is to use an alcohol breathalyzer. Breathalyzers are designed for highest accuracy and they can be used in a variety of tests. There are different kinds of breathalyzers available today, such as the SafeWay Disposable Breathalyzer Alcohol Tester, SafeWay CA20F Professional Fuel Cell Breathalyzer, AlcoMate AccuCell AL9000 Fuel Cell Breathalyer, AlcoMate Premium AL7000 Breathalyzer, AlcoMate Prestige AL6000 Breathalyzer, AlcAlert BT5500 Portable Breathalyzer, SafeWay CA2010 Professional Breathalyzer, SafeWay Keychain Breathalyzer, AlcoScan AL3500 Coin / Bill Operated Breathalyzer Machine, AlcoMate Core Breathalyzer, SafeWay Volumetric and Multi Level Tester and many more.

Most of the disposable alcohol breath testers are specifically designed for sales to civil, military law enforcement, and forensic applications. However, an important thing to note about breathalyzers is that the breathalyzer devices need to be calibrated. Calibration is a process of test and adjustment of parameters to compensate for any deviation from their initial factory settings. Calibration kits are available and can be bought easily to restore factory calibration and settings. Calibration also helps with fast turnaround time and does minor repairs if needed. Portable breathalyzers are easily available in the market and can also be purchased online.
